Summary
Thirteen years after leaving Hogwarts, Hermione Granger is Not Okay. Her relationship with Ron has crumbled. She's burnt out and quit the Auror Office. She still hasn't been able to find her parents to reverse their memory spell, and all her money has gone on a probably-repossessed house and a wedding which will never happen. Harry and Ginny would let her stay on their sofa forever, of course, but they have a new baby, and Hermione has enough trouble sleeping. So she's left with one, final, awful choice - to go to the only place she knows she can't be turned away: the house of the insufferable man whose life she saved the day Voldemort died - Severus Snape.
Snape is, shall we say, not pleased with this turn of events.

"‘Severus?’ McLaggen’s brow furrowed, like he was sure he’d heard that name but couldn’t think where. ‘Severus, um…?’
‘Severus Snape. I’m living with him.’
McLaggen stared at her. She could almost see the thoughts crawling, caterpillar-like, across his brain. His eyes grew wider and wider.
Hermione pressed her lips together. She mustn’t laugh."Hermione saved Snapes life and calls in her life debt by asking to stay with him, after her messy break-up with Ron leaves her destitute. She's not where she thought she would be in her thirties. It goes from there.
The way Istileth writes love resonates with me like very few works do. The story also has humour, mystery, and deeper themes on forgiveness and guilt. Great Golden Trio-dynamics. The minor characters are as well-thought out as the major ones.

"Percy hated the noise in his head, he hated that there was never a moment of quiet, he hated that the voices followed him all day and taunted him before he fell asleep. He hated it all and – as already said – he had thought about ending it all twice. The noise was going to kill him eventually. The voices said that no one would miss him.
But this year, while everyone was scared and people were dying, they saved his life."
This story follows Percy Weasley during the war when he was estranged from his family. He hears voices. It's very good.

Summary
In which the Sorting is less of a choice between Dark and Light and more of a fashion statement, Gryffindors are more than reckless, bumbling fools, and Slytherins aren't the only ones playing politics.
Because you didn't actually believe that life is so straightforward as to be defined solely by the colour of a tie, did you? Hidden in plain sight, in the one house they least expected, Harry Potter becomes what he was always meant to be.
Hogwarts beware, the Dark Lord's equal is rising!

Gryffindor has internal politics similar to fanon Slytherin. Very nicely written, with a great friendship blooming between the Gryffindor 1st years.
"Because the truth, no matter how bitter a taste it left behind on his tongue, was that they were nothing but six outcast first year students. And sure, Hermione had a bright mind. Dean was a talented artist. Neville had a green thumb. Ron was a fantastic chess player. Seamus could get along with everyone (especially the girls, strangely enough) and Harry was practically radiating magical energy. All their abilities mixed together made for one heck of a powerful person. But they weren't. They were six kids, nothing more. "
