Pain.
There’s only pain. Throbbing and stabbing and crushing and burning all at once. She tried to remember the events leading up to her current predicament but any attempt at focusing her thoughts is ripped away by the relentless piercing pain turning her brain into a pin cushion.
Only her head seems to be affected by whatever this situation is. Her body feels disconnected, almost floaty, but there’s no pain to be found there. Did she get a concussion somehow? It wouldn’t be too unexpected for her to get whacked in the head by some damaged scaffolding or crumbling ceiling tile. Her mother had always warned her that this hobby of hers would get her killed one day.

When returning to the C&A building she'd explored months prior results in Pomni's real-life counterpart gaining her memories, she embarks on a quest to find the other members of the circus in the real world and help them merge with their virtual counterparts as well. As she works to save her friends from the confines of the circus, she begins to wonder if there is more to this process of merging than it seems to the eye. Why won't her head stop aching?
