Prince Aerion Targaryen once drank a cup of wildfire, convinced it would make him a dragon. It made him a corpse instead—briefly. In one particularly hateful mood, she had prayed that Aegon be an Alpha, so that the Kingdom would have a worthy Monarch.
The Gods had truly heard her plea and mocked her, as she stood now in the Small Council chambers listening to her husband plan to marry her boy off, her father seeming to be just as lost about what to do as she was, his hopes of Aegon taking the throne now dead, all either of them could do was try to guide Viserys in the best direction.
Though her husband was completely resistant to any attempts to sway him, his mind already made up.
“Aegon will marry Rhaenyra, it will help mend the rift that has formed in this family. You yourself suggested this once upon a time, Otto, I disagreed back then, the age gap was too large and neither of them had presented at that point. But now Rhaenyra already has heirs of her own; she's an Alpha and with Aegon’s presentation, I believe that it is high time I do now what should have been done back then."
