I wonder about what she gets up to when I can't observe her myself...It's strangely difficult to imagine. I'm too scared to even approach her. Not that we would get along, anyways. What interest could she ever have in me? I bet she thinks I'm a total reject. So, why is she so close with Kris? ... I'll find out. No, no. I'll just stay this way. Watching her walk home only to see if she's safe...Okay, maybe that is not the only reason. Though, it's difficult when she also keeps looking my way. Probably thinks I'm a creep. If only I got half the attention she gets from Kris. Darn, I need to focus...no more of this ridiculous distraction.

Everything so, so quiet.
Dying. Robert was dying.
He didn’t want to die.
Something hadn’t wanted to die, at least. He wondered sometimes, if it had really been him that night, clinging to life. Or if it had been the venom, already clawing up his brainstem, sifting desperately through the shredded remains of its new host's nervous system.
Mauled and sick-dog rabid. His father would have put him down without hesitation.

Or: Robert is a vampire. He's dealing with it fine. Perfectly fine. And his new job dispatching the ex-villain he put in prison years ago as Mecha Man? Also not a problem. All he needs is to keep his identity, and his condition, secret, and everything will be perfectly, completely, manageable.
Ft. much yearning, pining, and general idiocy between Robert and a certain fire-powered hero.

Summary
He caught the tell-tale glow of vibrant red emanating from either side of the runner, blurry in the haze of the unrelenting rain but still unmistakable as they bobbed in time with the person’s arms. Robert’s eyes narrowed as the information slowly rolled around in his brain.
Definitely an augment.
“Fucking asshole!” Chad seethed, the sound of his voice drifting closer to where Robert was still sprawled out on the ground. “You okay Bob Bob? I heard something pop when you ate shit. You didn’t, like, break anything right? Your normie spine didn’t snap yeah?”
While walking back from a night out with the Z-Team Robert and Chad have a literal run-in with an unregistered Red Ring augment. Unbeknownst to them this brief, and frankly unspectacular, encounter will throw them into a storm where Robert will be entirely dependant on Chad to help him navigate the challenges that actually come along with controlling the fire and flames while his skin does not burn. And hopefully doing so with as little property damage as possible.
