Her eyes were wide, and they looked at him like she’d seen a ghost, glassy and horrified. Judy's mouth had dropped open, and her gaze went back and forth between his collar and face.

Pyrophobia is the intense, irrational fear of fire, and Silver the Hedgehog didn't have it.
Or... he hadn't had it. Hadn't realised he had it? He'd never liked fire, but until a mere few days after Iblis was defeated, Silver had only ever felt a sense of duty when faced with the stuff. It was only after, when the world was healed, that he realised he'd become rather aversive to it.
Or:
Fire is fucking scary, and Silver has dealt with way too much of it to keep his brave face on.

”I’m sorry, Knuckles.”
”For what-“ Before he can get an answer though, Sonic pushes him from the cannon right into the vast space.

If there was one thing the Sons of Heephis had in common it was trauma. All three have been through harsh times some worse than others but harsh all the same. For only knowing each other for less than a week it was strange to be able to comfort in each other when their thoughts became too much and threaten to swallow them whole.
When one falls the other two would be there to pick them back up.
