Summary
Stars burst to life behind his eyes, and his whole body follows, coming into tune. It’s like when you have to shake the static from the TV – yeah, that’s what it feels like – and the picture sharpens into focus.
He feels so here. So now.
“Whoa,” Mike breathes, realizing distantly that he’s smiling.
Going into their last year of college, Mike feels like the only one in the Party who hasn’t fully figured things out – it's like everyone else knows how to be a person, and he’s just been faking it this whole time. Will helps him feel a little more normal.
Or: Mike and Will stumble into a fwb arrangement, and the inevitable happens. Duh!

Summary
Something happened between Mike and Will during winter break of ‘89, and they haven’t spoken in four years. When Mike moves to New York for grad school in 1993, he is finally starting to figure himself out, and he wants to fix things with Will. He has no idea where to begin, so he writes a play about it.
Will has been building a life for himself in NYC as a painter. He has a boyfriend, volunteers with an AIDS housing program, and pays his rent by acting in other people’s plays – including, as it turns out, Mike’s.
A story about the damage of being loved before you’re ready, and about trying to make your way back (with a little help along the way from your meddling older siblings).

Summary
A post-canon (with some small tweaks) road trip full of tension, nightmares, gay panic, and a very long drive toward the truth.
*
Will just wanted to bring his brother home. He didn’t plan on sharing motel beds, surviving Mike Wheeler’s jealousy spiral, or confronting feelings he’s spent years burying.
Mike thinks Will likes girls.
Will thinks Mike will never love him back.
Both of them are wrong.Or
Water dripped from Will's hair, ran down his jaw, caught on his lips.
Mike stared at it.
Stared like he'd forgotten where he was.
Then, slowly he lifted a towel and pressed it gently to Will's mouth, wiping the water away. His hand didn't even shake. He was steady.
Will's breath stuttered. Tingles tremored all the way up his spine.
He didn't move. He couldn't. He was too aware of Mike's hand, of the way his eyes kept dropping back to his lips.
That look again.
The one Will had seen a dozen times now and never understood.

Summary
"They were satellites in unstable orbit, trying desperately not to collide while being pulled toward each other anyway."
Will Byers thought he'd buried his feelings for Mike Wheeler somewhere between Hawkins and Chicago. Then Mike walks into his life again, and eight years of distance collapse into nothing.
What starts as a forbidden attraction becomes something neither of them can name - desperate encounters, painful misunderstandings, emotional manipulation, and Mike's inability to reconcile who he is.
When Mike finally stops running, he might just be too late.

Summary
“So, I’ve been thinking," Mike throws his head back into the sofa’s head rest. “You know how I talk about girls all the time?”
The pencil in Will’s hand freezes for just a moment, something Mike wouldn’t have been able to tell at all if he wasn’t staring right at Will’s hands to avoid his gaze. “So?”
“Well, I’ve been thinking, right?”
Will looks up, but Mike isn’t looking back at him. He’s picking at a loose thread on the couch cushion. “What, about girls?”
“No,” Mike shakes his head, “about boys."
Will nearly chokes on his tongue. “You’ve been thinking about boys?”
or, mike conducts an uncomfortably elaborate semester-long personal inquiry project on how to be a better straight ally to his gay best friend. for educational reasons only. obviously
