Summary
A beat of silence envelops them briefly, Zhongli taking another step toward him but still not touching him. The aura of the Geo Archon crackles invisibly in the air, making Childe swallow as he fights to keep his hands to himself.
“Would you like for me to scent you?” Zhongli offers then. “It may ease some of the discomfort.”
Childe proceeds to choke on his own spit.

Or: Childe and Zhongli are both betas. Until they're not.

Summary
Liyue, the land of All Hallows Eve, has three simple rules on the night where the dead wander the harbor: put out all the lights, do not make a sound, and should you be seen, do not cry for help.
Morax, the Lord of All Hallows, has fought monsters that would make even the most hardened warrior from another Holiday petrified with fear. Behemoths from the depths of the sea, monstrosities that rose from the cracks in the ground, abominations that slip in from the void between Liyue and the other Holidays. Yet he cannot fight the annual gloom that settles over All Hallows' Eve.
One year, in early spring, a merchant comes to the Harbor — a toy salesman, one who just might upend everything about All Hallows as Morax knows it.

Summary
Under the Jasper Mountain was the abode of the King of Serpents. Morax was the Serpent’s name, but most said it was best not to call him by it – he heard everything, sent his snakes to watch and listen to what was spoken about him. Treasures uncountable were concealed in the heart of the serpent kingdom, hoarded by the Serpent throughout his long life, yet few brave men turned up willing to go and see whether that was truth or empty barking.

Summary
Zhongli,
I thought long and hard about a gift for your birthday—there are many things I could give you, but nothing felt right. In the end, I settled on a quest. I will give you a clue, and it will direct you to another letter. If you find all the clues, eventually one will lead you to me.
I’ll be waiting, so try your best.

Summary
The curator nods, but his gaze follows your movement, lingering for a moment longer than is natural. You ask him if anything is the matter, and he shifts his gaze back to your face, eyes as tranquil as ever. This close to him, you notice that his irises are a very pale shade of brown, so pale that they almost seem to gleam golden under the yellow light.
“I apologise,” he says smoothly, regaining his calm so quickly that it suddenly leaves you unsure if you had actually been mistaken, “you just look like someone I used to know.”
You can’t help your curiosity: “Are they a friend of yours?”
He offers another small smile in response. The slight expression transforms his demeanour, softening the aloof distance of his beauty into something a little more human.
“Yes.”
Much, much later, in a time where the era of gods and monsters has long since passed, a Snezhnayan exchange student and a Liyuean museum curator meet once again.
