Curiosity gets the better of him. He inches forward carefully, leaning in to study the design. He reaches out to trace his fingers across it—
The stone disappears beneath his hand, and Jayce falls forward with a yelp. The bouncy ground offers no help; when he tries to right himself, he only manages to lose his balance completely and tumble ahead.
He doesn't find himself on the ground however. He's caught mid-air— something clamps around his torso, halting his fall. His status screen lights up without prompting.

The creature bends lower until it nearly brushes Jayce’s cheek.

"Experiment began at 7:23 p.m., Tuesday, August 5th. Subject identified, made contact with agent, passed out without resistance, currently unconscious. Desired effect achieved at 6.4 seconds, no apparent physical damage," he spoke to himself clinically, monotonously, as if merely documenting another technical procedure. Yet the glint in his eyes betrayed the cold façade. His grin was almost maniacal. "You took longer than average to feel the effects of this compound, Jayce. Intriguing. This is going to be a very… interesting experience."
