“Oh, no.” Phil raises his eyes with a sharp glare. “Believe me, I have my own way of preventing the apocalypse.”

Or, Techno, Wilbur, and Tommy are basically chaotic forces of nature, destined from birth to end the world and bring destruction. Most who hear of the tale of them are trying their best to track them down, and to end the monsters while they’re still young, still just children.
Phil has a different plan.
(In which Phil raises the minecraft equivalents of the anti-christ with love and support, so much so to the point where the world ending is really just a funny thought, and Phil has three kids who casually have powers that are bit more extreme than anything else in the world)

Summary

Luckily for him, the aliens didn't seem to expect him to be able to break out of the stupid cage they stuffed him in and destroy their ship from the inside out.
Now he just has to figure out where to go from here.

But Wilbur was weird. Weird because he wore sunglasses in the middle of September. And because he was a vampire.
To be more accurate, he was a fledgling. Wilbur insisted on not becoming one of them. He feared losing his own humanity, breaking away from everything that once made him human.
Though, Wilbur didn't know that the kid he babysat was all he needed to keep that humanity.

Summary
It was as if lava had poured down their bond. Both Tommy and Wilbur went down with a scream, desperately trying to cut their bond, but it was too late.
By the time the lava cooled, and all the hunters were taken down, there was no magic to be called upon. As if the lave had turned to bedrock right in their core. As if all of their magic was hidden away behind unbreakable stone.
“Tommy,” Wilbur had gritted, jaw tight and eyes hard with anger. “What did you do?”
Bad luck, the card had said. Bad luck.
Tommy hadn’t proved himself. Tommy had embarrassed himself, Tommy had ruined Wilbur’s magic.
And it was all Tommy's fault.

After a spell leaves Tommy and Wilbur without magic, Tommy takes it upon himself to fix it. But after his solution, Tommy is stuck unwillingly going to alternate realities--of the futures that Wilbur has changed.
When Tommy's memory begins to slip, and he never knows if he's in his reality or a different one, he fights against what's real, what's fake, and what he feels he has to do to make up for his mistake.

For a moment, Tommy almost thought the man had somehow seen him. But he quickly brushed it off, knowing that it was impossible. Tommy was imperceivable, because he was dead and he was a ghost.
Tommy expected the man to move on, to keep walking as though nothing had happened. But the man kept standing there, his face flickering through emotions too fast for Tommy to register.
The man stared in Tommy’s direction with startling clarity, as though he wasn’t actually looking through Tommy and actually knew he was there.
It was silent aside from the pouring rain, and Tommy felt like he was frozen in place.
“Tommy?” The man said, his voice disbelieving. “Is that you? A-Are you real?”
The silence echoed afterward.

Tommy is a ghost without his memories. He’s alone for years until his brother, Wilbur, who can see ghosts, finds him.
Wilbur also died but was revived by a necromancer named Phil. When Tommy is found by Wilbur, he is offered a family and a chance to be revived too and live again.

He raised his arm. The guards turned to them and soon one elbowed his way towards them.
"Magic, potions?"
"We have basics," Wilbur lied. They had basic herb knowledge but nowhere near to call themselves alchemists. "Healing salve for sure."

Summary
The forest surrounded the village on all sides, caging everyone inside their meager little town. Parents would repeatedly tell their children to never enter it, or even think of entering it. It was a known fact that everyone who had entered it, hadn’t come back out.
People always told stories about monsters who lived in the woods.
Some said they had bright aquamarine scales and a voice that could easily entrance someone. Others said that they were a huge pig-like beasts that could snap your entire body in half with almost no effort. And the most ridiculous description in Tommy’s opinion, was that they were people with massive black wings and extremely powerful magic, who could have you begging for your life in seconds.

Or, Tommy is a thief living in a village around people who very clearly don’t want him there. One day, he runs away to the forest and learns that the monsters everyone always told stories about, aren’t actually all that monstrous.

Summary
Tommy had stormed away before they could continue to yell. Before they continued to fight. Before they continued to verbally tear each other apart the way they never did when they were kids.
But that was a long time ago.
Before Tommy became a burden. A strain on Wilbur’s life, health, finances.
(Because Wilbur did have a choice, really. He didn’t have to take Tommy in. Which means he still has a choice now—at any moment, he could decide to drop Tommy off into a system. It terrifies him. Like booming thunder and threats of a house fire, it terrifies him).
So when Tommy woke up the next day, head aching and nose running, he swore he wouldn’t let Wilbur know.

After an argument, Tommy decides to hide a sickness from Wilbur. Which means that when he passes out in the middle of a rainstorm, Techno is the one that has to take him home--but Tommy is incoherent, except for his insistence that he has been abandoned. It's up to Techno to decide if Tommy should make it home.

Summary
The other children were warned about him along with the creatures from the forest. He too might have been warned once about the things lurking under the dark canopy. Things inhuman, things that lived outside the human’s way, creatures of magic, old and dark. Even with the call of the forest, all the children, even feral ones like Tommy, dare not enter the reaching depths of foliage, heeding the warnings of adults.
Unlike what the village believed, as far as he knew, Tommy was not a creature of magic. He was human, though he might act more feral than most. Having been on his own for as long as he has, it’s the only way he knows.
Or
Tommy runs into the forest that he's been warned about for years and finds something that he might have been looking for all along. Or, at least, something that was looking for him.

Summary
So, Tommy had a pet cat who could understand him and only ate steak. Perfectly normal, perfectly understandable.
Nope, not weird in the slightest.“Why am I stuck with the cat food..?” Tommy ducked his head, looking at Wilbur devour steak on his bed while he sat on the floor. There was something wrong about this image, and Tommy wasn’t sure if it started with his cat trying to hold cutlery, or him eating wet tuna cat food with a spoon. Every new addition to the family had to be a bitch, didn’t they?
When Wilbur’s plate was cleaned out (and he somehow didn’t vomit any of it on Tommy’s bed, thank god), he nudged the plate in Tommy’s direction with a paw. The boy scoffed.
“Wash your own plate.”
The cat held the plate between his teeth, raising it above his head. The dirty cutlery fell on his bed and Wilbur jumped off with it in his mouth.
“That was a joke-”Or. Tommy adopts a cat called Wilbur.

It sure sounds a lot like Wilbur. Tommy pries his eyes open, squinting through the snow and blinking at the lanky figure not far off in the distance. His movement seems to attract its attention, because it starts to move towards him, slowly and then picking up until it runs full-tilt at him.
"Tommy!"
Oh. It is Wilbur.

Tommy runs away from home in the middle of a snowstorm, is brought home by a very brother-shaped siren, and is surprised to learn that his family actually wants him.

Tommy sat still. He reached into his jacket pocket, his hand finding only a plastic pen. Could he stab this man with a plastic pen?
Tommy pulled said piece of plastic out, visibly holding it up. “I have a pen.” Something about the bemused look on the man's face made Tommy click it, and again, repeatedly.
