“Christ, you’re a lucky bastard,” Todd, the bear, says to Buck, shaking his head. Eddie blinks and finally looks at him instead. “A man this gorgeous in your bed and he only looks at you.”
Buck’s cheeks turn bright red. “I’m pretty obsessed with him, too,” he says, scratching the back of his neck.
Todd claps a hand on his back, laughing. “Well, thank you for letting me join tonight.”
“He’s been rolling around like a cat in heat all afternoon, begging for it,” Buck says. Eddie arches his back in response, lifting his ass higher. They both laugh. “I felt so bad telling him no, that it would feel even better if he waited for you.”

Summary
Buck steps closer, takes the knife from Eddie’s hand, the movement careful and gentle, and sets it aside. “Hey,” he tilts his head into Eddie’s line of sight. “What’s going on?”
“You know that thing that’s been going around, about the sun?”
“The dimming thing? Eddie, that’s–”
“It’s not,” he cuts him off right away. “The sun is losing output, we have data. And not gradually, not in a way that gives us centuries – we’re talking a decade. Two, tops.”
Buck leans his hip against the counter beside him, crosses his arms over his chest. “…okay.”
“There’s a team that’s been on it and they think they have a lead on a solution. They need someone to go out there and retrieve whatever the thing is and bring it back.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
Eddie doesn’t have to look, but he does anyway. He owes Buck that much.
“It’s going to be a three person crew. A scientist, an engineer, and someone to fly the ship.”
The silence sits around Eddie’s neck, drawing tighter with every second that passes.
He can see the moment the words land.
“And that someone is you.”

“Tell me your story,” Buck asks, once they’re all settled in his office-slash-living room. It’s become his go-to ice-breaker for new clients—how could he expect to plan their wedding if he doesn’t know who they are as a couple? Sure, he’s a romantic, but it’s also practical. It’s how he learns how to turn the big day from great into something magical. He sips his coffee, leaving his notepad in his bag for now. He wants this to be as natural as possible, and he can jot down his notes later.
Ana, the bride-to-be, smiles brightly, linking her fiancé’s hand with her own. “We met about three years ago. I was his son’s teacher.”
“She’s amazing with him,” the fiancé, Eddie, cuts in. He’s incredibly handsome, with his brown eyes and long lashes, perfect smile, and hair combed to the side. They make a beautiful couple.
