Eddie could feel his stomach twist with anxiety. He wasn’t even nervous for himself, no, all the anxiety and tension building up inside him was on behalf of Buck. He couldn’t give a damn if the Buckley parents liked him or not, he didn’t like them very much either.
But Buck cared. Despite everything his parents had put him through Buck desperately wanted a good relationship with them. And maybe they could’ve, once, but after everything that happened during the aftermath of the truck bombing, Buck’s grueling recovery as he worked to readjust to his new normal as an amputee, well let’s just say Eddie didn’t think Margaret and Phillip Buckley deserved another chance after abandoning their son when he needed them most.

Usually September seemed to be prime beach weather, but with Chris starting college in a week, they figured now would be the best time.

*“It’s both times, Eddie! You carry someone over the threshold when you get married and when you check into the honeymoon suite. It’s, like, a universal rule!” His blue eyes sparkled with conviction, his hands planted on his hips.
Eddie leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed, his lips twitching into a fond frown. “I’m pretty sure it’s when you buy a house.” He insisted.
“Well, we’re moving in here for the night then? Let me carry you.”
“Buck, we’ve been married for three hours, and we’re already bickering about this?” His voice was warm, teasing, his dark eyes glinting with amusement.
“It’s not bickering, it’s debating,” Buck shot back, grinning. “And it’s romantic! It’s symbolic! It’s-” He didn’t get to finish, as Eddie stepped forward.
“You’re ridiculous,” Eddie said, his voice low, laced with I love you. Before Buck could protest, Eddie bent, hooked an arm under Buck’s knees, and scooped him up in one fluid motion, as if Buck’s 6’2” frame was weightless.*

Buck and Eddie finally get their long awaited wedding night… If only they could decide when to carry someone over the threshold first…
