"Ryou took his coat from the hook and slid into his shoes then turned to look Yugi in the eye (he found he had to look directly at his audience for this one). He asked, “Do you have your wallet and your keys?”
There was that initial confusion he was getting used to. ‘Is he talking to me?’ ‘This is my home, I’m not the one leaving.’ ‘Of course I have my wallet and keys.’ Thankfully Yugi was smart enough to skip the obvious. “Yes?” he replied uncertainly.
“No, I need you to check, please.” Ryou replied firmly, angling his head at the other occupant of the entryway. The small child glowered up at him while struggling to tie his shoelaces."
Originally written for Emperess Elizabeth's Baby Scale AU where Thief King Bakura is reincarnated post canon and adopted by Ryou as a small child. Fan names are used.

Ryou thinks he’s the only one who sees ghosts. His mother saw them but she’s gone, his father doesn’t see them and he’s certainly bullied enough in school for being the weird kid who talks to himself. When he finds a paper talisman in one of the classrooms and pulls it off to see who shows up, he meets the school's resident small goth and they fight the ghost in the classroom together to replace the seal. He finds himself with five new friends, his first real crush and, though he can't use talismans to seal ghosts like Yugi and his Grandfather, they are able to point him in the right direction to better understanding and using his own spiritual gifts, the ones handed down to him from his mother.
