“Come on,” Comeau says. “Are we all just supposed to pretend it's normal that you’re still playing house with Ilya Rozanov?”
“Gil—” J.J. says, but Shane doesn’t want him to finish that sentence, to pull Comeau gently off the ledge he’s steering himself toward. Shane wants to push him, kicking and screaming, to make them say it to his fucking face. That after all this time, they still hate him for the heinous crime of falling in love.
“We’ve been married for two years,” Shane says. “I’m not sure that qualifies as playing house. I mean, it’s longer than you were with your first wife, isn’t it?”
Or: Shane reunites with his former teammates at J.J.'s bachelor party. He's finally ready to say (and maybe punch) his piece.

Commentary
I don't know why Shane is still friends with J.J. I understand J.J. being civil to his teammates because he works with them. However, if he truly disagreed with what they thought, why invite them to the wedding? One would think if he was truly a friend, he would not willing be with people that he knows will insult Shane.

Summary
Despite what the media likes to believe, Ilya has never hated Shane. They’ve been obscenely competitive on the ice and angry with each other off of it, but he doesn’t think he’s even capable of truly hating Shane Hollander.
Last night, though, something ugly and uncomfortably close to that woke in him. He knows that on some level, Shane has to know what Ilya has sacrificed. He wasn’t trying to hurt Ilya. He never would.
After the Boxing Day fight, Ilya disappears.

Rozanov frowns. The air around them stills for a few seconds, and embarrassment starts to creep in as Shane thinks he has made a mistake—

Fire ignites in his palm, flaring through every nerve in his hand, cutting through skin and sinew and bones. His chest is so full it might burst, and his lungs forget how to work. In New York, Ilya is celebrating a victory against the Admirals by watching his secret boyfriend destroy the Pittsburgh Penguins on home ice on a hotel TV. He isn't prepared to witness Shane go down, hard, in a pool of blood.
Meanwhile, in Pittsburgh, Mel has agreed to a blind date in the hope that it will help her move on from her growing feelings towards the very-married Dr. Langdon, who has recently returned to the Pitt. When her date takes Mel to a hockey game, she doesn't think her night can get any worse - until one of the players has his neck cut open mere feet away from her.

Note: Around the end of ch 5, Yuna calls Scott to check on Ilya; Kip goes with him to the hotel room. When they get their Cliff is outside Ilya's door, trying to get him to open it. Once they open the door with a key card, they find Ilya in a catatonic state, with evidence of self-harm scratches on his face and neck.
