“You shouldn’t have to do all that,” Ian mumbles.
“You shouldn’t have to live with this fucking illness,” Mickey shoots back.
“Fuck,” Ian breathes.
Mickey lets him pull him close and completely envelop him.
He burries his head on his shoulder, his cheek against his collarbone.
His husband presses a kiss into his hair.
“You know I trust you,” Ian states. “I trust you so fucking much.”
“I know,” Mickey reassures him.
It’s true.
There've been so many moments when Ian reached for him in the dark, his body relaxing just a little whenever Mickey touched him and told him, “It’s okay,” as many times as it took.
“I’m fine,” Ian says. “You worry, but I’m fine.”

Summary
Ian's obsession about sharing a bed was fucking annoying. But, as allmost all the things he wanted to do with Mickey, it was a real temptation. Probably because of that night, nearly a week ago, when He had couldn't help but watch Ian sleep til sunrise, during the drug was leaving his system. There was also the memory of that fucking loft, and the impression of security and happyness Mickey had feel when he had lay down by his side, a hand on his shoulder. Too good to be forgeten.

Like everyone else, he has to deal with busy workdays, pay his bills, and he gets sick sometimes.

“What’s happ?” Debbie asks,
“I’m going to need the room back,” her landlady admits.
“Okay,” she croaks.
Without watching her, Beatrice starts talking about her niece, who’d opened a bakery, then lost everything because of COVID.
Then she launches into another sentence that starts with "I know that…, but Debbie doesn’t listen.
“It’s fine. We’ll stay with my brother while we look for something else,” she cuts in.
“I thought your brother sold your childhood home,” Beatrice points out.
“My other brother. The one who lives on the West Side with his husband.”
“We’re going to Uncle Ian and Uncle Mickey’s, Mom?” Franny beams.
“Yes, baby,” Debbie answers.
The only small problem is—they don’t know it yet.

Summary
Ian hums, leans with his arms on the counter, but his eyes are mostly closed. He looks exhausted, and Mickey feels a pang of guilt for having woken him up, even if he didn't mean to.
"You should go back to bed," he says. "You look like you're about to keel over."
"Hm," Ian says, shakes his head. "Not if you're out here. Can't sleep."
He smiles faintly, exhales in amusement. "Okay big guy, let's go back to bed then. Maybe the tea's supposed to taste like shit and then knock me out."
"One can hope," Ian says, dragging his feet back to bed with Mickey in tow.

He plays idly with Ian's hair, which gets him a satisfied hum that vibrates against his collarbone, before Ian's breaths even out and his body gets heavy with sleep not long after. He presses a kiss to the top of Ian's head, sighs because he knows he isn't falling asleep tonight. He can just tell. He closes his eyes anyways, tries to ignore how they sting from how tired he is, and breathes.
And breathes.
And breathes.
And doesn't fall asleep.
