“So mum, I’ve been wondering…”, Gemma said as she perched herself on the armrest of the chair and put an arm around her mum’s shoulders, “Do you think they’re gonna do it anytime soon?”
“Do what, darling?”, Anne asked while sipping her wine.
“Come on, mum, you know exactly what I’m talking about.”
“I’m sure I have no idea”, Anne countered, confusion clear in her voice, but Gemma saw the little twinkle in her eyes.
“Are you really going to make me say it?”
When she still didn’t get a reply out of her mother, she sighed and clarified: “Do you think they’ll finally do it? Get hitched? Say I do – you know, get married.”[This is my take on Harry's 22nd birthday and how H&L got engaged. Featuring nosy families, boys in love and complicated PR stunts. Also, DJ!Niall (kind of), a hiatus that doesn't actually involve a lot of free time and birthday sex.]

Face blank, Alec steps forward without a moment of hesitation to stand in front of the Inquisitor, his people parting respectfully before him to clear his path as he goes. He comes to a halt a few paces in front of the Clave representative and the guardsmen she’d brought from Alicante. A coiled leather whip hangs from the belt of the man at her left shoulder.
Shoulders drawn back and hands clasped behind his waist, Alec meets Imogen Herondale’s steel gaze. The words are ritual and although Alec has said them many times before, never before has he meant them less.
“That it may please the Angel to bring back into the way of righteousness all such as have erred, I place myself before you for Discipline.”

“I had to,” Alec insists. “I know I hurt him. By the Angel, I know, and I hate it, but I had to. He was so broken, I had to do something, I had to fix it. And I can’t tell him about the deal, because that was part of it. That was one of the conditions. Magnus can’t know.”
“No.” The look Catarina gives him makes Alec’s chest tighten in fear. “Alec, Magnus doesn’t have any memories of you anymore. He has no idea who you are.”
***In which Magnus removes his memories of Alec, Alec swallows the pain of Magnus’ obliviousness to their shared past, and the devil is in the details (literally).
(AKA the canon-divergent 3x19 rewrite, because it disappointed me.)

Summary
Alec throws back the rest of his drink, feeling pleasantly buzzed. He has no intention of getting drunk, he doesn’t want to miss a moment-- is trying to sear every second of this day on his memory-- but he’s feeling good and this drink is delicious.
He’s about to turn around and order another, planning on taking it with him as he looks for his errant husband, when a hand wraps around his arm.
“Quick, kiss me! I’ll explain later--”
Alec’s smiling as he mutters, “Wha--”
Magnus’s lips meet his before he gets the word all the way out and then he’s not thinking at all.
