Named after the first chapter: An old OLD fic excavated from the churning maw of long ago. Wyndcliffe Watch #11 to be precise. Sarah Collins has become an innocent witness to a murder plot. What can a protective big brother do? This may have possibly been inspired by, at the time, some unpleasant fan elements (always in the minority) that seemed to think Barnabas could only care about one person at a time.

COMPLETE. Long lost in the wilderness of ancient fanfic sites, this is finally being restored and returned.
This is a standalone monster of a fic; it can be seen as an offshoot of IS THIS NOT LOVE, something that happened if things had happened very differently a while back; but it shouldn't be taken as being tied into the other. It was started as a fanfic challenge of Julia losing her memory and snowballed into the question of what would happen if Blair had to actually help the Collins family. The answer was obvious: He'd hate it. He'd hate it soooo hard. And wouldn't it be fun to read. There were several theories of what Blair was--human or never? And I chose to operate under the theory that he was never quite human to begin with, which is why humans alternatively amuse and bemuse him. There's going to be some warlock whumpage and I may be getting some flack about Angelique but I'm working through some theories about her as well.

--M.R. JamesBackground: Immediately following the events as the show ended as we know it. Roger has given his speech and it was well-received. Barnabas, Professor Stokes, and Dr. Hoffman are wobbling between pretending they know all about months they have no memory of having and being just grateful to have survived. The Turbins are an incredibly annoying family, but in my defense I am working my way through a conglomeration of very annoying founding-rich-jerk families from my home county. It’s therapy.
For the present and future readers, there will be death, violence, unpleasant situations and discussions, but there will also be a lot of love and laughter. One of the best things about this show was it never completely went over the top with just one thing or another; humor existed, and human frailty. Trigger warnings will be posted. There will be no warnings for scenes that may look like they were written for Grayson Hall’s vicious sense of humor. If you love her, you know what you’re getting into.
