Summary
Nico is used to one night stands. What he isn't used to is the way this stranger, who clearly doesn't understand the fundamental principles of ONE NIGHT, keeps bumping into him. And he definitely isn't used to the fact that he's starting to really enjoy it. Piper says it's fate, but Nico doesn't believe in fate. Nico’s face begins to burn. He has to fight through it. “Um. It’s just that I’m not very close to them. I never was, not on the Argo II, and I don’t think we ever will be–” Will tries to interrupt, but Nico keeps talking– “We’ll unpack that later. But Jason wants me to be close with them, to be a part of their big friend group, so he keeps dragging me along to their hangouts. It doesn’t work.” Nico finishes with an exhale as he watches the last words escape him. He didn’t realize how much of a weight they were, and he didn’t realize he could talk openly to Will. His face burns a bit more at that last realization (oh my gods I can’t say that to Will Solace), so he sticks his hand back in the pieces pile.
“Nico,” Will says. Nico looks him in the eye. “You’re always welcome to join my hangouts, if you wish.”
Something flutters in Nico’s stomach. He doesn’t mind. “Oh, uh, thank you.”
Since the battle against Gaea was won, Nico has spent his days dragged to hangouts with the seven by Jason. He finds an escape in an ominous invitation from familiar stranger Will Solace.
