The Terrible Two’s were at it again. It seems like they will physically combust and evaporate if they don’t do something silly or dumb every few minutes.
Ottawa maxed out their cap space with Shane and Ilya, so there were no rookies this season. Respectively as the youngest players on the team, and most destructive they earned the nickname “The Terrible Two’s.” Because sometimes it was hard to believe they were really 21 years old. And they acted like toddlers.

“It’s seems we under booked here boys, shit” a few groans are heard throughout the hotel lobby. His coach sighed and asked “does anyone have somewhere else they can stay here in Ottawa?”
Shane immediately raised his hand like he was in grade school “Oh! Me I do!”
Embarrassment flushed to his face as he noticed the unexpected excitement that radiated off of him. Everyone turned to their captain and his coach asked “Where can you stay Hollander?”
This was a horrible idea. He had absolutely shown to much excitement for the person he was about to tell his team. Shane scratched the back of his head, tugging at some of his hair nervously.
“Ilya will let me stay with him” he said as calmly as possible.
“Shane buddy what?” JJ croaked. Hayden just look at Shane like he was mentally insane. “Ilya as in Rosanov?” Comeau deadpanned.

OR: one thing leads to another and Shane gets to stay with Ilya while in Ottawa for a game, instead of in a hotel. The world keeps spinning and the sun still shines because everyone assumes they are friends. -

“Sshhh, it’s all right,” Shane tells him, “Just breathe, okay? Just breathe for me, baby. We can talk when you’re ready.”
Ilya’s breath hitches. Then his sobs increase and Shane tightens his arms around him. Ilya’s fingers curl into the fabric of Shane’s shirt, and Shane rocks him gently back and forth.
“I’ve got you,” Shane whispers, repeating the words again and again and again. He presses a kiss to Ilya’s hair, to his brow, to any part that he can reach. And he doesn’t let go. He never, ever lets go.
Set during "The Long Game" when Shane drives away the morning after Ilya’s Halloween party, and Ilya breaks down crying.
What if Shane comes back? What if he finds Ilya? How might this one revelation change the course of events?
