He looked down at his hands holding the fine crystal glass, observing the gold inlaid for the first time. He never held such fine dinnerware before, even at weddings—and Stiles used this daily. He gently placed the crystal down. “I am far beneath you.”
Stiles’ face pinched up in revulsion at such words. “That’s not true.”
“You’re the Duke of Beacon, and I am a recently appointed mine baron,” Derek tiredly answered. “My hands will never be clean enough for you.”

When he gets a late night call from Scott, saying Derek has been taken, he's on the road back to Beacon Hills in less than ten minutes. He's going to get Derek back, even if that means adding a few more kills to his ledger.

When Stiles' boyfriend proposes, he realizes time has run out and he can't run from that drunken mistake he made a decade ago in Vegas. Does he do the mature thing and call Derek up, explain the situation, and ask for a divorce? No. Does he tell his fiance that hey, maybe they should probably wait a bit before getting married because, oops, he's actually already married and it's probably a really funny story if you think about it? Also no.
Does he go back to Beacon Hills, hellbent on getting papers signed with all the righteous indignation of a man who lives deeply in denial, only to see his own damn jeep speed down the road with Derek Hale and a - a teenager he didn't know existed, and go just a little bit crazy at the thought of Derek having an entire life without him? Yeah, absolutely.
