He slipped in through an open window, unannounced, pounced when Dmitri stepped out of the shower, taking advantage of this familiar vulnerability, like a dark mockery of easier times, when he enjoyed jumping his brother in the bathroom to surprise him for his birthday, pulling him into a rough hug, a playful tussle between lion cubs.
But it’s not Dmitri’s birthday now, and there is nothing playful about the way Sergei has him pinned to the carpet, one hand around his throat, the other holding Dmitri’s wrists trapped above his head.

Before his first battle, Loki cast a spell to ensure that, if he died, he would be brought back to life in a safe place in the body he had at the time of casting. He didn’t find a way to keep his memories intact, so after he survived the battle he discarded the plan as a childish impulse.
