    Summary

Ichigo sleeps, obviously, but—first with the nightmares of his mom dying, and needing to take care of the girls in the middle of the night when they were little, and then Isshin’s increasingly aggressive “training” over the years—he doesn’t sleep deeply. Not in his own house, and certainly not anywhere outside of it either. He’s learned to get shut eye when and where he can, but he’s never so deep under that he can’t snap to awareness in an instant if he needs to.

It often leaves him feeling restless, a little strung out and tense, but it’s fine. He’s gotten used to it. He’s long-since learned how to walk the knife’s edge of exhaustion.

    But.

But not at the Urahara Shoten, apparently.

There's only one place in the three worlds where Ichigo can actually get some rest. What starts as a one-off accidental nap turns into a habit.

    Summary

“What do you need?” Kisuke asks without hesitation. His curiosity—and concern—is piqued. Besides, he owes Ichigo more than he can ever repay, and more than that, Ichigo is…well. Ichigo is his.

His student. His protégé. In some ways, his creation, though he’s grown beyond what Kisuke ever imagined.

His in other ways, too, though those are less clearly defined.

“I’d rather not say over the phone,” Ichigo hedges, and that’s probably not good. There’s a hesitation there, and then a sigh. “You know what, sorry. I’ll figure it out. I don’t know what I was thinking—”

    “Where are you?”

    ---
    OR:

8 months after Ichigo loses his powers fighting Aizen, Kisuke gets an unexpected phone call. Once again, Ichigo's found himself in danger. Only this time, he's been dealing with it alone. That's unacceptable, as far as Kisuke is concerned.

    Summary

Kisuke kept his distance, did what he was asked.

And now he needs to see for himself that Ichigo is fine. That Isshin was right and Ichigo is happier like this. That things are better because Kisuke stayed away.

If that’s true, then to hell with what he wants. He can live with it. He will make himself live with it.

    ---

    *OR*

Aizen is defeated, the war is over, and Kurosaki Ichigo is powerless. According to Isshin, Ichigo is better off this way. Happier now that he doesn't have to deal with shinigami bullshit and can have a chance at a normal life.

Isshin lied. Ichigo isn't doing well at all.

Kisuke is going to fix it.

    Summary

In which Daniel Molloy pulls himself together (then has another nervous breakdown, then pulls himself together again), Armand doesn't know what a 3D printer is, Benji has a Plan (of which Step H is roughly shaped like the movie The Parent Trap), and nobody here can keep their noses out of each other's business.

(Or: In which the author is on a holy crusade to right the wrongs Anne committed in Blood Communion, such as not mentioning Daniel even once.)

    ***

“People call in sometimes, and they say, ‘Whatever happened to the Vampire Daniel, anyway?’ What am I supposed to say, you know? ‘Oh, Daniel Molloy? Yeah, he lives in my house, he’s got a room up in the attic with some mad science experiments or something, we’re blood relatives, but I don’t know what’s going on with him; we don’t talk.’ Come on. That’s not responsible journalism. The people want to know!”
