Summary
“Darcy–” Steve says, damn near panting.
Darcy shakes her head. “Don't wanna talk about it,” she says, dipping back to kiss him again.
Unfortunately Steve's hands on her rib cage press her back once more. “Darcy,” he says more firmly this time. Sighing, Darcy begins to stand. Only Steve's hands stay firm and she suddenly realizes they're not about to have the conversation she initially thought.
Oh. “Oh,” she verbalizes and Steve ducks his head.
“Yeah, so we have to talk about it,” he says to the floor. “Because I'm falling for you so hard I can barely see straight.”
At that Darcy tips Steve's head up by his chin and looks him in the eye. “Definitely not alone there, bud,” she says before her lips are back on him and Steve is breathing her in.
Guess I have a type, Darcy thinks.
As soon as that thought crosses her mind, Darcy is pulling away from Steve in tears. "Oh god, Darcy, I'm so sorry. Did I hurt you?"
Darcy shakes her head vigorously. "No! No," Darcy says with a gasp. "You're just–" Not him. She doesn't finish the sentence. They both know.
He sits with her on the kitchen floor for hours while she cries...

Violet hadn’t seen Xaden in three years, ever since she had been forced to become a rider, and he had enrolled into the infantry quadrant. And it was just her luck, that they’d now been put within the same squad to work alongside each other whilst training.
They’d once been inseparable, with enough history and memories which Violet had forced herself to forget.
And surely being back within each other's proximity was only going to end up one of two ways.They’d either end up killing each other, or fall back into the same orbit they had been in three years ago. But Violet would be dammned if she let herself back into Xaden Riorson’s arms.
