Summary
Behind him, he feels a small hand fist in the fabric of his trousers. He’s been keeping Dick behind himself, a human shield if necessary, but now he angles himself slightly and puts a hand on Dick’s head. Dick is very different from him, he’s realised. Where Bruce shunned physical contact, Dick craved it - he needed it like a flower needed sunshine - he’d survive without it, but he wouldn’t thrive. His tiny hand stays clenched against the back of Bruce’s thigh, but he melts ever so slightly under Bruce’s hand, and not for the first time Bruce thinks - if his touch can bring comfort to even a single person, it would be the greatest achievement in all his life.

Slade hums, kissing him in almost the same way he’d fucked Dick with his tongue. “Do you have anywhere to be tomorrow?”
Dick grins and licks his own lips, still shivering from the aftershocks but nowhere near done for the night. “No. Why, are you planning on keeping me up late?”
Slade laughs and it rumbles through his skin into Dick’s chest. “Little bird, I don’t plan on letting you sleep at all.”

Either way, Slade doesn’t have the energy to deny an obvious truth. “Hitting on you is one thing, but I’ve never acted on my words, and I’m not about to start now.”
“Well,” Grayson insists, “why not? I mean, I’m right here, and I’m offering. You don’t flirt with everyone - I know you don’t. It must have meant something.”
“Yes,” Slade snarls, “it meant that you’re an attractive person, and I have eyes. But you’re also a child, and that’s a line I’ve never crossed.”
“So what, you would’ve killed me then, but you won’t fuck me now?” Grayson demands, his hands coming to rest on his hips in a gesture of indignation. He’s so attractive that Slade’s gut twists at the sight of him, and he swallows back a growl that threatens to come out of his throat.
“Yes,” Slade agrees after taking a deep breath, “because I’m a mercenary, not a rapist.”
“For fuck’s sake Slade, I’m not a child anymore! I’m twenty three years old, and I’m perfectly capable of making my own choices.”
And that - that’s true.
