Lyney's hand swiftly but gently grasped his hip. Aether could feel the texture of Lyney's glove against his skin. Then the coldness of a card that had likely been slipped into his pocket earlier without his knowledge. The contact was brief, but it revealed the subtle strength of the Fatui that he would never have imagined when he first saw him.
"You didn't notice the card?"
Aether, still under the spell of Lyney's disconcerting proximity, responded with a slightly hesitant voice, "No."
Lyney kept his gaze fixed on Aether. "Be a bit more attentive. You could be in danger, especially in places like these."
There was a certain experience in Lyney's voice, but before Aether could ask any questions, he stood up. The traveler blinked, and in that brief span of time, the magician had managed to vanish.
He had left a rainbow rose in his place.
