"I can't believe I’m breaking my own rules." Rule number 28 don't fall in love.
Louis has a set of rules that he lives by - you need it when you are constantly travelling, living new experiences, and meeting new people. These rules were simply just precautions to take if he wants to live his best life - see, very simple. Some of his most used rules are rule 4, "Always have spare money on you, no matter what country you were in", rule 2 “Carry light - no need for an excessive amount of luggage", and rule 45 "Always make sure to send a postcard back to your grandma when you visit a new country.”
Yes, one of the rules was don't fall in love, but it never says anything about not falling in love with a certain curly-headed man.

“You came,” Louis says, still breathless, clinging to Harry, uncaring that his sweat is getting all over Harry’s presumably clean dad shirt, or that he’s making Harry hold up all of his weight.
“Of course I came,” Harry says. He shifts, one arm curled underneath Louis’ arse, the other spreading wide in the middle of Louis’ back. “If I ignored you every time you pissed me off we would have stopped being friends a long time ago.”
Louis already knows that, of course. It doesn’t do anything to stop the pleased squirm in his belly every time Harry proves it, though. They fight like nobody’s business, both of them too stubborn to pull their punches when they’re arguing, and it used to get them in trouble, but they always make up.
Adrenaline makes Louis loose-lipped, and they both know it. He tightens his arms around Harry’s neck, buries his face in his hair. “I missed you,” he confesses, quiet. “Doesn’t feel the same up there by myself.”

Harry’s brows furrow, glancing aside like he thinks Louis may be talking to someone else. Louis jerks his head beside him, impatient, and the alpha steps into the room cautiously.
Louis turns back to Royce and Hunt who are staring at him in confusion. He pastes a pleasant smile onto his face, clasping his hands together. “Gentlemen, I understand. I understand the predicament that we are in…” He clears his throat. “But there is something you should know.”
“What is this, Louis?” Royce asks, exchanging a look with Hunt.
Taking a few steps backward until he is beside a very bewildered looking Harry, Louis takes a deep breath. “We are, uh –” He reaches out and touches Harry’s arm. You cannot actually be doing this, he thinks. But then he does. “We are getting married.”

The low rumble of the kettle boiling sounds just as the person shifts his broad shoulders around to face Louis, his scent hitting the omega like a hurricane wind, knocking his heart into his stomach. Cedarwood and bergamot are about as unbearably familiar as the face of the alpha he’s loved for almost two decades — his floppy curls chopped short and all the extra chub around his cheeks gone, leaving behind a defined jaw and sharp nose.
His eyes begin watering before he can stop it, voice shaking as he says, “Harry?”
Louis’ dying, he must be. His whole life with Harry is flashing in memories right before his eyes as one corner of the alpha’s lips turn up into that lopsided smile Louis has missed.
“Hi, pup,” his mellifluous and smooth voice has the omega’s body going slack.
