The call closed with a short beep and Bruce turned his head towards the small figure that had been standing next to him for the whole call lenght. For a moment neither of them spoke. Then:
“Damian.”
“No.”
Bruce sighed.
OR Damian is invited to Jon’s birthday party, but would rather stay at home and jump across Gotham rooftops. He’ll find that birthday parties are not that bad if you have a friend by your side.
Featuring some Batkids shenanigans, Bruce being a tired dad and the sweetest birthday boy you could ask for!

Summary
Jon had been quiet in the weeks after the cleanup, tucked away in his room most of the day, or hiding somewhere around the world that sometimes took a few hours to find him again, curled up in the quietest corner of the farm or the fortress of solitude. He didn’t talk much and rarely showed his face in public or around the media, not wanting to scare off any of the heroes who still held apprehension and resentment over his head.
Lois didn’t see her son very frequently. It was hard to get through to him, and it was hard to know if he wanted space or comfort. Clark didn’t even know, and this was more of his kind of stuff than it was anything Lois could track.

“I don’t really like dogs…” Jon muttered, his face still buried in his knees, although he could still hear everything around him.
“That’s not true, you love Krypto,” Lois kept up her small ministrations of rubbing up and down his shoulders as if that might help ease some of the tension in his back. Jon refused to come out of the small ball he had curled himself in.
Sure, he loved Krypto, but Krypto was a superpowered dog. It wasn’t like he could accidentally hurt Krypto. He was invulnerable and had pretty much all the same powers as Clark and Jon did.
It wasn’t like Jon could accidentally kill Krypto because he didn’t know his own strength.
