Summary
Carmen keeps in contact with Gray after New Zealand. It starts off fairly innocent, with an impulsive phone call. Except, said phone call turns into concrete promises of a date, ….which turns into a second. Then a third. For better or worse, Carmen keeps seeing him, and things escalate. She can’t stay away. Not anymore.
But their reunion could never be so easy, not with the threat of VILE hanging in the peripheries. For this very reason, Carmen does not tell Gray about his past. In spite of the immense guilt, It's a choice she makes for his own safety—-or, so she likes to imagine. In actuality, she isn’t as good at maintaining her dirty little secret as she thinks. As Carmen is occupied with downplaying the affair to her own team, other parties watch from the shadows, and Gray is pulled back into the fold. Loyalties are tested, lies are told, and hearts are put on the line.
TLDR: Carmen falls in love with the one person she shouldn't, and it has consequences.

Throwing Venti on an emotional rollercoaster was just a part of the plan, but Lyney would be lying if he didn’t say it was mildly entertaining to watch him fluster and gasp adorably at everything Lyney threw at him.
It’s just too easy to play with Venti’s heart, like yarn in a kitten’s paws. He’s only human— how could Lyney resist, really?
In a circus masquerading as a court, entertainment value is given a whole new meaning; who needs to argue the truth when you can see heads fly? Well, if those fools don’t value the truth, then Lyney Snezhevich intends to show Fontaine the final act of their lives— and they aren’t going to get their happy ending.
And yet, when a mysterious stranger with a laugh like wind chimes crashes on his roof, he considers switching up the plan. As long as he can get Lynette and Freminet out of the Knave’s claws (and preferably, out of the country), Lyney’s always open to improvisation.
Still, it’s a little weird that his stranger seems to know his every move before he makes it— and the fact that in the late hours of the night, sometimes Lyney sees his death reflected in their gaze.
