Summary
Astarion hummed. “I’m later than usual this year, aren’t I?”
Halsin just held him closer. Surrounded by Astarion— hair still wet from the bath after reclaiming the rosemary and bergamot orange soaps that waited for him in the cupboards until winter's gales blew into Reithwin—Halsin decided,
“You’re just in time for the first snow.”
For a moment the elf seemed to trouble himself over a burdensome thought. He bit at his bottom lip, worrying it under a fang, before releasing it.
“I was looking for something,” Astarion admitted quietly. “This—I promised myself this would be the last time I’d look.”
Astarion returns to Halsin once a year to wait out the winter, and leaves come springtime to pursue a life of travel. This year is different.

Summary
There’s something Jaheira’s not saying. “What happened to his last handler?” asks Gale.
“The last four, you mean?” The rueful curve of her smirk deepens the crow’s feet around her eyes. It makes her seem younger, somehow. “The first died. The second went missing. The last two quit. You’ll be fine.”
In a Faerûn where magic is slowly diminishing, disgraced former Chosen of Mystra Gale Dekarios survives in Baldur's Gate as a Harper alchemist, tending their greenhouses and nursing the Netherese orb in his chest—until his High Harper forces him into fieldwork.
His first assignment? A vampire spawn informant with a crooked touch, dreams of ruin and vengeance, and a hunger to rival his own.

Summary
It was foolish. Undignified. He was a wizard, a scholar, a survivor of cataclysmic fate. He had touched the Weave itself. And yet here he lay, reduced to this - undone by memory, by the ghost of a mouth brushing his skin in the dark, by words never spoken, by letters left unwritten, by the immense and echoing quiet that greeted him in every room he entered alone.
Or
An epilogue turned book two.

Summary
Astarion tugged tighter on Wyll’s hair and the man winced. “It shouldn’t have been a problem,” Astarion hissed through his fangs. “I can always push through. I can’t remember when it’s been difficult, not for decades at least. Sex is my job. It’s what I do. It’s easy.
Astarion could see Wyll’s face fall in the mirror. “Is being with me something you have to force yourself through?”
“No!” Astarion quickly responded, not caring to pause and think about if it was the truth. “I chose this. I’m free, at least for now. It should be fine!”
Wyll pressed his lips together, hesitating. “But…it’s not fine, is it?”
********
Astarion starts to admit that he cares for Wyll. Astarion begins to allow himself to draw closer to Wyll -- but as he does, the things Wyll has left unsaid become a new obstacle to overcome.
