Tasked with managing the dead for a superstitious town that despises him, Mydei has to take on all the roles of a mortician, coroner and even gravedigger. Mydei believes he is protecting his assistant from the townsfolk and the nature of the profession, completely unaware that Phainon is a fae he unknowingly bound himself to many years ago.

    Summary

“You’re distracted, Deliverer,” Mydei mutters. Despite saying this, he isn’t pulling any punches today.

The silence between them becomes stiff, and Phainon needs to occupy his hands with something, anything. “I’m in the middle of… researching something,” he says.

    Mydei hums. “With the Grove?”

Phainon feels sort-of-bad-sort-of-not for obfuscating the truth: one because it’s Mydei, and the other because the matter is about him confessing to Mydei, you see. He pulls a face. “You could say that.”

Kremnoan Roses aren't real. Probably. Phainon is about ninety-nine percent sure. But after coming across an antique Kremnoan vase, Phainon swears that if he, by some miracle, manages to recreates them, he will confess to Mydei with a bouquet of mythical roses.

    Summary

Here’s the thing: Phainon’s a line, P(x), hurtling towards the y-axis from negative infinity on the x-axis. Mydei, M(x), is doing the same from positive infinity. There’s a point they’re both heading towards, some kind of nebulous companionship, but in the end it doesn’t matter what’s happening there because they’re hitting an asymptotic boundary where their destinies diverge - Phainon, ascending to his position as the Deliverer; Mydei, plunging to his inevitable death.

Phainon takes up a tutoring post at the Grove, thinks about Mydei, and writes a love letter that's long overdue.

For Phainon and Mydei, the way to survive the rot-infested world is simple: to fight side-by-side. They trust each other deeply, no matter what happened.

    Summary

He clears his throat. “Mydeimos, I realize we've gotten off on the wrong foot. That is, you think I'm a perverted stalker who followed you home, stole your pan-laundry, and also somehow accused you of stealing said pan-laundry. So what do you say we start over?” He rustles the bouquet in his hand, dried leaves falling onto the floor. Great.

Mydei’s eyes trail downwards. “You're cleaning that up.”

“Right. No problem…” Phainon says dejectedly.

    Or

Phainon steals his neighbor's panties. Somehow that isn't the most embarrassing thing he's done all week.
