Gavin got quiet. “That’s it? You just get to decide that you don’t want to do this? You won’t even fight with me?”
There was a long silence.
Pursing his lips to fight back tears, Gavin turned his face away. “Got it. Well. If there’s nothing left to fight for, I guess I’ll be giving my lawyer a call.”
“…what?”
Gavin’s shoulders shook as he turned to face Nines again. “Nathan, you won’t talk to me, you won’t fight with me, you won’t go to therapy with me. There’s nothing left for me to do to try to salvage our marriage because you don’t want to. What else am I supposed to do? I miss the days where we couldn’t get enough of each other, and now you can’t stand me. I love you more than anything in the world, but if our marriage is going to be this way, I want a divorce.”
