“You think I’m hostile,” Ilya says.
“I said we,” Shane answers. As frustrating as Ilya is, Shane will also own up for his behavior that sometimes occurs when Ilya pushes him to his limit. All he wants is the privilege of an education. The experience of college. He won't let his roommate ruin that.
“I don’t like you,” Ilya says plainly. “You are irritating, and you are boring. In two years, we will be done with hockey and college, and neither of us will have existed to each other. Let it be that.”(Or: Ilya Rozanov is a rich kid who has been kicked out of another university. His new university, while not bad, tries to give him a new roommate. Shane Hollander is a sweetheart who hasn't had an easy life after the loss of both of his parents. Summary
Husbands Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov loved each other and loved their boyfriend, Luca Haas.
He shared many traits with both Shane and Ilya, but after letting something slip out, Ilya starts to get concerned that maybe Luca was like him in another way, one that he never wanted for his boy.
-The main theme is an exploration of Luca's mental health, but this is a Heated Rivalry fic, so don't worry there will be plenty of smut amongst the angst!

“Promise to listen?” Shane asks seriously. “Just… hear me out, is all I’m asking. I think we can make this work.”
Ilya swallows. “I will try,” he agrees in an uncharacteristically serious tone. “But I am not doing anything that could hurt you.”
Shane nods. That’s fine, that is understandable. He can work with that.
He flips open to the page he had jotted notes down on, cheeks warming as Ilya gets a glance at the various sex toys written in his chicken scratch handwriting.
“What is a concern you have with sharing a rut?” Shane decides to start, voice even and ready to address his worries._____
Shane wants to help Ilya with his rut, but being his rut partner poses risks when both partners are alphas. Shane comes up with a plan to act more like an omega so he can help Ilya, but neglects to tell Ilya how insecure it makes him feel to not be able to help him on his own. Hurt feelings ensure.

At twenty-five, Shane works from home in cyber security. He gets all his groceries delivered. He avoids the outside world whenever possible. Finally—finally—he caves to his parents’ insistence that it’s time to purchase an omega.
Ilya is supposed to be difficult. That’s what the auction house warned him, anyway. They aren’t wrong. Between the language barrier, the violent mood swings, incessant noise, and feral behaviors, Ilya is nothing like the obedient omegas Shane is raised to expect. Half the time, Shane can’t tell if the man hates him, fears him, or is losing his damn mind. Probably all of them, all the time. The other half of the time, Ilya watches him like he’s waiting for Shane to spring a trap. News flash: there isn’t one.
Shane doesn't have any inkling of what he’s doing. He’s never shared space with another human being before. Let alone an omega who doesn't understand personal space. As the walls crack between them, Shane notices things he never questioned before. He realizes there is something deeply troubling in the world he grew up in.
