“What did you do now Merlin?”
“Got cursed.”
Merlin slumped into the room and fell onto the bench of the table across from Gaius, laying his head dramatically on a book of something or other Arthur didn’t bother to look too closely at.
“Cursed.” Gaius echoed, unimpressed.
“Cursed.” Merlin sighed back, like some kind of weepy maiden.
“He can’t lie,” Arthur supplied, walking further into the room and standing behind Merlin, pushing his head off the book roughly. Merlin squawked and glared at him before shaking his head and turning back to Gaius.
"It gets worse."

“Yes, sire… well, a stone.” The stableboy nodded nervously, glancing at the King before adding, “That is what they was saying. A stone that can’t be tricked nor fooled, one that can detect even the smallest bit of magic in a person.”

Or I really liked the idea of a stone that identifies magic users and how strong their magic is from 'A Warlock's Wish' by vividpast and couldn't stop thinking about it.

Sudden, desperate hope sprouted in Merlin's chest. Can you hear me?
"Of course I can hear you," said Arthur, and the gentle tone he used with animals had fallen away into annoyance. "Where are you?"
Arthur, it's me! Merlin abandoned his grip on the sleeve as well as his dignity and stood up on Arthur's palm, grasping at his shirt with both forepaws. He stared urgently into the man's eyes as they refocused on him. It's Merlin! Gwen's friend! I've been turned into a ferret!
