“You’ve seen all of this before, haven’t you?” Yugamu asks, tilting his head to the side.
“Huh?” Sumino looks back over at him, eyebrows raising in surprise. It always strikes Yugamu as weird how easily Sumino lowers his guard around him… Like there isn’t a trained assassin and self-admitted pervert standing at his elbow, Sumino has no compunctions about turning his attention elsewhere and letting Yugamu’s presence fade into background noise. If he thinks about it for too long… his stomach starts to feel funny, so Yugamu tables the thought for further examination another time. “What, the festival?”
“Right. Didn’t we throw one in your first hundred days?”
Sumino scratches at his cheek with that awkward and silly smile he gives sometimes. “Well… yeah, I have. We did. All the stands were pretty much the same… It makes sense considering that it was Maruko who threw it both times, I can’t see why he’d come up with something different now unless I was overseeing every choice he made in planning this…”

Summary
Takumi watches Yugamu fiddle with the ties on his sleeves, allowing them both to fall loose. His forearms, visible for only a moment longer, are unbloodied, but covered in scars both faded and stark against his pale skin, and lined with lean muscle. Granted, Takumi has seen Yugamu almost naked before, because the guy prefers to swim in the nude, and reluctantly conceded to wear a speedo the last time they had swim lessons—Takumi swears, the rules at this damn school are so lax they might as well be nonexistent—but it’s something else to see him still clothed but with his arms showing. Really draws the eye.
Takumi’s stomach still feels like it’s tied up in knots. As he watches, Yugamu turns on the sink. Dark-coloured water washes down the drain as he begins rinsing his blades, one after the other. His hands, Takumi realises, are shaking slightly, but he doesn’t still or slow down any, running through the motions with the practised experience of somebody who Takumi knows has done this countless times before.
It really is hard to know what to say to someone like him, but Takumi clears his throat. “You’re acting weird, you know that?”

“Well, you didn’t really agree to anything back then, did you, Yugamu-kun?” Eito is smiling when Yugamu looks at him again, something more serene than the last smile he offered, an eyebrow raised. “In fact, if I’m not misremembering, you barely contributed to the conversation at all.”
Yugamu clears his throat, blushing. “It’s embarrassing that you noticed… In the first place, I was a proponent of your rejoining the team whether or not your feelings on all of us had changed. We’re not exactly in the position to be picky about how we source our manpower, are we? Or else we wouldn’t have brought Eva-chan into our ranks…” He breathes a sigh. Granted, he’d been against that maneuver too, even putting aside what he suspects was the ‘method’ employed to bring Eva into their ranks… but that all is only tangentially related to the hypothesis he’s following up on with Eito right now. “To say that I agreed with you joining the team as you are now would probably be an exaggeration, though…”
At that, Eito’s face does something funny.
