The temple’s stale, muggy air is gone - replaced by a cool, gentle breeze. He looks up and there’s no stone ceiling; instead, he has to blink the sun out of his eyes. He lifts one arm to shield his gaze and finds no golden gauntlet - just the sleeve of a dark blue suit covering his very normal arm.
A scene from his own past. Some type of Ancient mind game. No prizes for guessing where he is now. He only ever took the one mission in a tiny mountain village. There’s plenty of pain to revisit from those dreadful days, but one moment stands out; the most painful thing he’d suffered at that point in his life. So Vincent is hardly surprised when he walks to the town gate and sees Lucrecia and Hojo in each others’ arms.
“As long as she’s happy, I don’t mind,” he says aloud, conscious of the repetition.
