Every culture has their wedding traditions, from gifts to ceremony to jewelry. Surely he didn't write for the demons in his novel to have such a tradition where he would constantly receive jewelry from his new husband... right? Even if he had, what's up with the body harness type jewelry? The expensive gems and pricey metals? Something had to be up, otherwise there's no reason Mobei-Jun would give him a bunch of jewelry suited more towards a concubine than a consort.
