Summary
Tension still exists even after El agrees to come back to Hawkins with Max. In the two story cabin, surrounded by snow, the smell of spruce burning and the slowly disappearance of the Northern Lights, the two women are alone with this churning feeling.
Max stands by the fireplace, El distracts herself in the kitchen, with the fireplace being the only thing that burns hotter than either women's love for each other. While Max continues the argument, El flirts with her, and their dynamic that they've known for many years up to that point, completely changes.

Here she was, thinking finally, being chief stew was bringing in some perks, getting to have a cabin all to herself for the entire charter season. Sure, she could tell the deckies had been working a little extra hard. There’d been some chaos on deck, especially during docking. But could they really not just make it through the season with three deckhands and a bosun? And why does it have to be Lois’ problem that the new deckhand needs a place to sleep? What kind of yacht has the chief stew bunking with a junior deckhand, anyway?
Or, an alternate universe where Lois Lane and Clark Kent meet as members of the crew on a charter yacht and have to share a cabin together. How long will Lois stay annoyed at how much room Clark takes up in their tiny cabin before she thinks of something more useful for him to do?

All in all, Lois thinks, it is easy to forget just how different human and kryptonian biology truly is.
It strikes her at times, when Clark is vacuuming her flat and mindlessly picking the couch up with one hand to reach underneath like it is nothing, or when she sometimes wakes up to Clark landing against her old, creaky fire escape, letting himself in through the window.
Kryptonians are a lot of things humans aren’t, but one thing is for certain: Lois still has much to discover when it comes to her very alien boyfriend. Starting with the way he acts around her at times—especially when she is on her period.
