Tony Stark was dying.
The palladium poisoning was getting worse by the day, and no amount of chlorophyll sludge, whiskey, or denial was going to fix it.
Then New York called to inform him that his biological son’s guardians had died unexpectedly, leaving Tony with temporary emergency custody of a fourteen-year-old kid who very clearly wanted nothing to do with him.

“I don’t want to intrude.”
“You’re not intruding at all.” MJ unlocks her door and steps inside, gesturing with her head for him to follow. “Besides, I’m just repaying you for the flowers.”
“You don’t have to,” Peter insists. “I was just being nice.”
“Then I’m being nice too. Come on. I have too much food and only myself for company.”
She holds up the plastic bag in her hand, where Peter can see two boxes of takeout inside.
“Okay,” Peter agrees, his hunger winning against his common sense. “Thank you for having me.”
Peter has done a good job avoiding Ned and MJ for the past four years. Until they both moved in across the hall and began inviting him for meals and giving him leftovers (suspiciously looking freshly cooked). He really shouldn’t get involved in their lives anymore, but Peter Parker is broke, hungry, and can’t resist the temptation of delicious food and the chance to talk to his friends again.
Or: Healing and loving through awkward leftovers, impromptu lunch hangouts, and maybe admitting Peter’s not quite satisfied with his life as he thought he was.

Summary
It seemed that he was destined to be baby-sat by a brooding ox from Akielos and an aggressive Veretian wasp. It was a farce, all of it. He was so tired, so weary of being awake. He used to think that insomnia was terrible, but – once he was too exhausted not to sleep – the dreams came to torment him. He’d kill himself if Damen came to him in those dreams again; he wouldn’t bear this little game of some god dangling Damen like a carrot right in front of his nose just to take him away the moment Laurent woke up.
War is over, but instead of finding peace in the arms of his lover, Laurent has an exceptionally vivid dream of what it would be like if Damen died.
