    "Or trouble finding me," Percy muttered. He looked up at Batman with suspicion. "Wait, have you been monitoring me?"

    Batman's silence was answer enough.

    "Dude!" Percy exclaimed. "That's a major invasion of privacy! I've been through enough without having the Bat-stalker checking my vital signs!"

    "Your bioreadings during the Battle of Manhattan were concerning," Batman stated, unapologetic.

    Being related to Bruce Wayne had its ups and downs. Being a demigod made that all the more difficult.
    Percy Jackson, son of Sally Jackson, formally Wayne, lived with his uncle Bruce from age seven to fifteen, before the realities of being a demigod made it clear that there was no place for him in Gotham.

    Two years later, Percy had lived through two great prophecies, multiple wars, and Tartarus, and just wanted to feel safe again.
    So, he decided to go back home, even with the bat infestation.

    Percy sighs. “You think some fucked up crime city in New Jersey is the perfect place for me to lay low and stay out of trouble?”

    “Divine trouble? Greek trouble?” Chiron nods, stroking his chin gravely. Percy’s pretty sure he’s only doing it for dramatic affect. “Oh yes, Percy. Mortal trouble? You are unfortunately on your own for that, I’m afraid. As long as you avoid the Batman, you should be fine.”

    Percy stares at him.

    “The Batman is real?” He asks finally, afraid of the answer. Chiron just turns back to the fire again, though Percy definitely saw a twinkle in his eye. Stupid old horse.

    (Or, Percy Jackson needs to get away from it all. Unfortunately, it doesn't want to get away from him. Was anyone going to tell him the Batman is real?)

    Percy had, briefly, entertained a fantasy of a triumphant return to Gotham. He’d get a blessing for the Waynes and finally prove he wasn’t fucking crazy, and come home to Jason and get to know Dick and get a chance to try again and, and, and—

    And Jason Todd is dead.

     

    Years later, adrift after Tartarus, Percy finds himself pushed back to the city he once called home. All he has to do is keep his head down. This is obviously a flawless plan.

    [Tim Drake is running on three cups of coffee, two hours of sleep, and a rapidly-waning belief in the value of a diploma when the most suspicious transfer student in the world walks in. Tim nearly chokes on his own tongue when he notices the white streak in his hair.]

    5 times the Batfam make assumptions about Percy Jackson with only the available information, and the one time they learned the truth.

    Assumption 1: Percy is Bruce’s lovechild. (Jason) (That one was corrected rather quickly)
    Assumption 2: Percy is a terrorist. (Steph) (It was a joke until it wasn't)
    Assumption 3: Percy is an assassin. (Damien) (No one is surprised by that)
    Assumption 4: Percy is in a cult. (Tim) (He has proof)
    Assumption 5: Percy has died and been brought back using the Lazarus Pit. (Jason) (And he's not happy about it)

    And Dick is the one they all use as a sounding board and he doesn't know how to respond.

    Chapters 1-11 are the main story. Chapter 12 on are bonus chapters that bring me joy. Technically complete, but there may be more bonus chapters as the muse strikes because I love this world.
