Summary

An assassination attempt quickly proves that his father isn’t satisfied with just exiling him. He and Iroh decide to hide out in the remote town of Gaoling, one of the few places overlooked by the Fire Nation due to its strategic unimportance.

Simon was seconds away from dying a horrific death. Blood filling the submarine, being in the jaws of an eldritch monster, his arm torn off, and countless other things. It seemed like a certain end, until he's suddenly surrounded by a blue light and spat out onto a ship he doesn't recognize, no longer drowning in blood or torn to shreds by rows of teeth.
Soon after, the Captain and the Head Engineer of the ship find him and, after quickly understanding he's from another universe (and from the looks of it, a bad one), actually decide to help him, healing his fatal wounds, and welcoming him to their colony, letting him stay for however long he likes.
For Simon, it feels like it's too good to be true. A universe where the Quiet Rapture never happened, COI and Eden non-existent, and finally given a proper second chance to redeem himself from years of being "The Butcher". That is until he realizes that the cause of the Rapture haunts him still, both in mental and physical ways, and that may not only ruin his second chance at life...but this new universe as well...

The last thing he remembered was drowning.
The crawl space of the sub had been almost completely submerged, he had been trying to get the black box. All he could see was red and all he could taste was the unforgiving metallic tang of blood invading every orifice of his body.
He had just gotten his hands on the black box when he felt something grab him. Not something solid like hands, it felt like… well, it felt like nothing.
But he went from fighting the thick river of blood to facedown in- grass?
There wasn’t any grass in the sub.

Book one ends with two major diffrences: 1. Sokka went on the mission with Hahn (it did not go well) 2. Zhao survives the North Pole and that proves unfortunate for everybody (except Zhao, obviously)
Imprisoned on Zhao’s war ship, Sokka and Zuko have to work together to survive. They are not very enthusiastic about this prospect.
