“I’d done things like that before, which I told you at the bar.” Buck whisper-shouted back. “Except I thought I was telling some nameless guy, some random Zorro, not the guy who became my best-fucking-friend! Holy shit. Holy shit.” Buck took a breath and looked around and realized where they were. “Eddie. Seriously. What the fuck. I just came out of the closet and you shut me in one with you?”

Bobby and Athena host a Halloween in July party after the disaster attempt at a honeymoon cruise. The main theme is Halloween Costumes, but more specifically, costumes that you haven't worn in a long time or haven't ever gotten to wear.
Eddie Diaz has a very specific costume in his closet that he hasn't worn in a really long time. Like, not since he first got to LA, long time. One he may have worn and hooked up with a guy in a bar wearing. Both he and the guy were wearing eye masks, and they didn't trade names or numbers. Eddie honestly never expected it to come back like this.

Summary
It had been an annoyingly busy day. Busy and frustrating because of the new guy and everyone still razzing him about Abby ghosting him. So it took him a minute to register that the apartment wasn’t empty. There was a half drunk wine glass on the counter and women’s clothes strewn on the bed. Anxiety spiked and Buck grabbed a few of his things and rushed back out as quietly as he could. He’d thought the catfisher shit had been dealt with, but clearly it hadn’t if someone was in Abby’s apartment. Abby didn’t have sisters, and her nieces were too young to drink let alone have bras. He got in the jeep, his hands only slightly shaky as he tried to figure out where to go next. He did the only thing he could think of and called Bobby. Except he didn’t answer, so he tried Hen and then Chimney, all going to voicemail.

Buck is still struggling with anxiety about the catfisher months after the ordeal and doesn't trust who might be in his apartment when he gets home. Instead of walking in and figuring out who it is, he bolts. Athena Grant doesn't let him feel anxious or stressed, taking him home to make him sleep on the couch so he feels safe. She gives some really great advice, actually.

Buck and Abby decided not to date after their disastrous first attempt, and just get to be really good friends. She leases her apartment to Buck when her mom dies and she goes traveling, keeping him updated about her trip. Buck tried to stay focused at work, but it's hard to do with a new guy. One who notices the scar Buck now has from an emergency tracheotomy that no one he works with knows about. Bobby hassled him about putting someone down that he didn't work with, so Buck had used one of his old roommates. Eddie Diaz just had to come along and point it out.

Buck just wants to go home and put the past day or three behind him. Learning about Daniel, having to see his parents again, it was all enough to make him want to just disappear into the world again. He just ... he thought that it was obvious he only talked to his parents at the station to humor them. To let them ease their own guilty conscience before they disappeared from his life again. Apparently Chimney didn't get that message. Because here he was, in the locker room, telling Buck that he didn't know what Maddie giving him her car keys all those years ago had cost her.
Fuck that.

Eddie ... is not happy that the Buckley parents are at the firehouse. He doesn't even know who let them in to wait for Bobby to get back from the hospital with Buck. Whatever. Bobby can deal with that. But Buck was absolutely not talking to his parents, and not alone. Eddie had kept his feelings for Buck to himself for ... apparently too long. Because Buck had still nearly gotten himself killed in that warehouse. He hadn't known that he had Eddie and Chris to come home to. He was going to tell Buck's parents off for all the shit they put Buck through, with or without Buck beside him. Someone needed to stand up for him, and Eddie was the world's worst at expressing positive feelings if they weren't for his son, but he would do this to show Buck how much he loved him.
