They've had this on-off battle all summer and as much as Eddie pretends to hate it, he's pretty sure it's also been the reason he's been waking up just that little bit earlier each day.

“Not a princess. Also not pining,” he quips back automatically, still staring at the window.
“Right, sorry. Royal courtier to the king will you please stop moping,” Robin corrects, crossing the room to stand next to the little window by him.
“I’m not moping!” Steve exclaims, knowing that although it’s not quite a lie, it’s not fully the truth either.
“You are either pining or moping so pick one that you want to call it but don’t lie to me and say that it’s neither.” Steve opens his mouth to correct her but Robin barrels on past it. “You are literally staring out the window and sighing. Sighing.”
“Fine,” Steve sighs again for good measure. His eyes track from the orchard across to the gates, retracing memories before he admits, “I miss him.”

Summary
Vecna has been defeated; However, everyone has been finding it difficult to move on. Robin and Vickie decide the next best thing for everyone at the moment is a break from Hawkins. Steve, Eddie, Robin and Vickie now have an opportunity for all of them to work as camp counselors, which didn't take long for the entire younger group to hear about it, inviting themselves along.
Eddie has had feelings ever since Steve saved his life, but he desperately wants to forget it all ever happened before it's too late. Steve wants to be friends but doesn't realize what could happen in the process of doing so. Surely it shouldn't be too hard of a summer to get through.
