Summary
Life brought them together as step-siblings, and they used that gift to get into endless trouble at their old schools. After years of bullying and self-defense stabbings, their mothers managed to get them into a new school in the hopes that they could have a trouble-free school life.
However, what they didn't count on is that it is quite difficult to have a normal life when the only healthy social interaction they have had in their short lives has been with themselves, and their only social skills are the product of what little is salvageable from various television shows.
But even with that great disadvantage, they both face this challenge, discovering in the process that no matter how weird you are, or how many problems you have, there is always someone weirder and more traumatized than you.

"On your knees, Golden Guard," Belos coldly commanded, the animalistic distortion of his voice disappearing as he reverted to his total-human form. He still held Flapjack tightly between his fingers. "Or have you forgotten how to address your Emperor?"
Hunter wordlessly sank to his knees.
"My liege," he said.
The title tasted like ash in Hunter's mouth.
"I… I'm…" Hunter heavily swallowed, hanging his head low in submissive shame. "I'm sorry for running and fighting. It was foolish— I was foolish to think I could escape you." Hunter's throat became so tight it felt like he was speaking through a pinhole. "I only delayed the inevitable. Please… please forgive me."

Set in a "Hunter stays at the owl house post-Hollow mind/before the day of unity" Au/Canon Divergent. Hunter struggles to sleep in the strange place called the Owl House. Between Sleep-talking humans, couch-hogging witches and demons, and an owlbeast curse with no respect for personal space, he could almost miss the solitude of his old bedroom. Almost.

Except, it turned out, at the owl house.It wasn't the faded old mat serving as a bed, which was so thin he could count the cracks between the boards on the hardwood beneath him by feel alone. He'd slept on much harder and much lumpier surfaces countless times before. It wasn't the drafty room or single blanket. He'd survived the snowy mountains with just his scout uniform and cloak, and anyways it was summer and the breeze felt nice. He had slept under almost any hardship he could bring to mind. Where his body drew the line apparently, was at sharing a room with one 'Luz the human.'"
