Summary
Mark’s willingness to take orders is both a blessing and a curse for Cecil. Nolan, of course, never listened, but Nolan would know that Cecil is testing him now; that he’s poking and prodding Mark for weaknesses, willingly putting him in harm’s way to see what'll stick.
And, if Nolan were still here, he would laugh. Cecil’d had the chance and wasted it. The signs were all there. He saw them. Nolan never hid from him— not really.
But, Cecil chose to be blinded.

Summary
This shouldn't have happened. Cecil is in front of him, which is not unusual, as he's his boss. And what can he do? Cecil will know if he's telling the truth or not, and if this Cecil is anything like his own, then he knows he's a persistent bastard. This was a younger version of Cecil, a really attractive one. With a sigh, he gives up, and as he speaks, he can't control the blush spreading across his cheeks.
"We're lovers."
Mark had traveled back in time, and he was standing in front of a 40-year-old Cecil.

Summary
Of course Mark is gorgeous. It's a tertiary point at best.
An objective fact that can be acknowledged and then shunted aside for more important character traits, like moral leanings and physical stats. But to have him like this? Panting and desperate and clutching at Cecil, makes that objective fact swim to the forefront of his mind.
Anyone would be affected in a situation like this, most of all because it's so unexpected.

Summary
Instead of falling apart after their confrontation in Season 3, Episode 2, Cecil and Mark actually talk.
Cecil calls it a tactical decision. Mark calls it a diner and two hours of honesty. Either way, something shifts and neither of them knows how to undo it.
A slow-burn Season 3 rewrite about two stubborn people who probably shouldn't, and fall for each other anyway.
