Micheal Wheeler didn't expect to survive hitting the water. Honestly, he didn't remember anything. All that he knows is that he's in the hospital, being watched 24/7.
Will Byers didn't expect to live after the Demogorgan got him, but here he was. In a hospital.
Now knowing that Mike was just one room away, before being moved into a shared room, he doesn't know what to do.
OR
El almost doesn't get there in time to prevent Mike from dying. Will was rescued, but Mike isn't speaking after he wakes up.
