Mira watches him walk off, the setting sun shading the world in a warm, light hue. Their odd way of asking favors still lingers in her mind. ...Where was Siffrin from, again? She can't recall. Maybe their Favor Tree ritual is different from the one in Vaugarde. It isn't uncommon for their neighbors to have differing takes on Vaugardian habits, but the uniqueness of the ritual sticks out to her.
The rustling of the leaves steals her attention back from her wandering thoughts. Right, a favor. She looks at the Favor Tree, giving a moment of thought to what she should wish for. She can't help but notice a leaf on one of the higher branches, already fading to dark despite the fact that the weather is yet to cool and the summer is dragging its feet with its departure
...Maybe the Change God would finally listen if she altered the ritual a bit. Maybe it would help and she'd stop feeling like a fraud. It's selfish to steal their attention from a stagnating Vaugarde, but if this favor might help keep her friends safe...

Red shakes his head, adjusting his hat before moving to respond. Here, the pokemon are cool. Staff lets you get close. Pewter just has the butterfree exhibit. He seems to want to say more, instead moving his hands away to grip the bench anxiously. Green waits.
Plus. Red stops, then starts again. A few minutes of this pass before Green watches as Red decides to spit it all out. You’re here. Not in Pewter.

“What,” Blue bit out, stormy and murderous, “is he doing here? In my room?”
“Ah.” Daisy set down her mug of tea, looking a little bit guilty.

This is a rewrite. I wrote the original story in 2019ish, and then got massively burned out and self-conscious. I deleted everything—even my old AO3 account, magicalmayhems. And now, four years older and a little wiser, I decided to start this story again. To be clear: I do not intend to abandon it this time.
