For the last two months rich folks had been rolling in, all manner of nicely dressed men ready to invest in what was surely going to be the jewel of the American Southwest. They’d tried to tell Dutch as much, but the man’s mind was set on the ferry. Wealthy tourists and precious cargo too much of a siren’s call for him to be invested in such a slow moving job. Dutch never liked playing the long game, he did when he had to, but he hated the waiting.
Hosea and he had trudged on regardless, Dutch or no Dutch to back them up. He woke up early and got dressed to the nines with some help from Miss Grimshaw and the girls, all ready to roll into the First National Bank of Blackwater.
