As he paused to catch his breath and collect himself, he could feel the pain pushing through the fading adrenaline. The arrows were scattered across his back, one in the side of his thigh. He reaches for something to grab onto as he feels his vision fading into black, but misses anything to grab. His footing lands on a tree root, landing wrong and twisting his ankle as he tumbles down to the sandy part of the river. As his head hits a rock on the way down, he blacks out…
