He noticed him first, just a passing glance. But something about him caught his attention, aware of the way he moved, the way he responded. And then, he wanted more.
He reach out directly. Let things unfold, positioning himself just right, never too obvious, never too distant. The other hesitated, but in the end, he stepped in.
The next time, it was more. And then again. Not often enough to feel like a burden, but steadily, consistently, until it became routine. The weight of expectation settled between them, unspoken yet impossible to ignore. The other complied without thinking, without questioning, without realizing how easily the line had blurred.
At some point, the balance shifted. It wasn’t clear when, exactly, or how. The other was already stepping in before he had to say a word, already anticipating what was needed. It had become second nature.
And by then, it didn’t matter. He had him exactly where he wanted.

“Hyung,” Hyunjin presses, just a little louder as a thrill of alarm straightens his spine. “What’s happening?”
Chan shakes his head again as if he’s trying to shake his vision back into focus. “I don’t— I don’t know,” he admits, voice pitched low so the fans in front of them won’t hear. “I don’t feel right. Something’s off.”
Curiously, Hyunjin leans closer, focusing on locating the alpha’s scent beneath the medical grade blockers they wear at events, and he recoils the moment he finds it.
Chan’s scent is burning.
