Summary
TJ Hammond didn't expect to fall in love with Steve Rogers. He didn't expect to want a long-standing relationship with the superhero. He didn't expect to ever be told he was the carbon copy of Steve's dead past lover, Bucky Barnes. He also didn't expect the utter heartbreak he felt when Steve said Bucky Barnes was alive...and that he needed to find him.
With Bucky in the picture, how is TJ supposed to compete against Steve's real lover, when all TJ had was just Barnes' face to begin with?

Summary
After the SHIELD/Hydra leak, The Winter Soldier finds himself lost in this new century, yearning to find himself again. That all changes when Hydra catches up to him. Meanwhile, Steve has to face his demons while searching for his best friend. Two years later, Steve finally finds Bucky, and it's up to him to save him and help him recover.
Triggers throughout the story: Self-harm, Starvation, Depression, Anxiety, Violence, Manipulation, Mildly Dubious Consent, Major Character Death, Mentions of Rape, Non-glorified Hydra Trash Party in Chapter 5 (does not go into extremely graphic detail but some incidents mentioned).
Please note that this fic will not glorify any hardships Bucky faces during his recovery. Any memory he recalls of his days as the Winter Soldier are unforgiving and harsh. I will try to point out any trigger warnings as each chapter is posted, but if I forget, please tell me! I apologize if I missed any TWs in my beginning notes.
