Summary
They have shared hugs before. They were always nice and cordial. Innocent. Rupert felt none of those qualities in the hug then. It could have been because of the state they were in, filthy and knackered. His nostrils were abused by the smell of Declan, musky and piney. And there were hints of roses too, likely from having Maud rubbed off on him. The bigger man’s hands were splayed on his back. He did not know if he was imagining things, but those hands seemed to be lowering down his back.
‘Rupert, you are either hiding something in your shorts or you are just very happy to see me,’ Declan drawled, his tone dangerously playful yet cautious.
What if Rupert Campbell-Black was living the ultimate lie and was in fact in love with his best friend? After years and years of being deemed the Rutshire playboy, maybe he wanted more and there was only one person he could think of who could give it to him.

A re-imagination of season 2 episode 5. Or maybe it was just how I decided to watch it and felt compelled to write this. I love Rupert and Taggie but it is a crime that there aren't many Rupert/Declan fics on here, they just look so good together.
